Things I'm doing

I feel like I wanna just write about what I've been up to lately.

So. Decker projects first. Zine of Millie issue 30 is begun. This is the season finale for season 3 so I'm sort of making it with that in mind, to give some sense of culmination. Trying to work out how to balance that with what I'd call "usual zine material" where I am writing about whatever subjects take my fancy, drawing little pictures, that sort of thing. It feels like the right thing to do though.

Also, there is the germ of a new decker point and click in my mind. I want to sort of get back to the feeling of Get Out And Run Some Errands in terms of setting. Since that I've tended more in a speculative fiction direction, and I think the "having to establish the world" type stuff can get in the way of having believable characters. Even though it was my first work like this I think the characters in Errands feel a lot more real. So I want to try and follow that up. I'm also thinking like structurally it could have like the idea of progression of time, like as you do things time will progress and the things you can do might change as a result (e.g. you might be getting breakfast and going to work in the morning but then later you'll be home in the evening doing something else). Not sure when I'm going to start proper work on this idea though, whether to do it as part of a jam or just whenever I feel like it. I think I need a break from any big projects at the moment so I will just like gradually chip away at the next zine for now.

Other stuff. Got out of the house today of my own volition. Went into town to see that new Superman film and also do a bit of shopping. I do need to get out more, it feels good to like be more in control like that. Just gotta remember that I can, I guess. Maybe as weather warms up it'll be easier. Anyway, superman review on letterboxd.

Also, back on Decker, I saw I'd got this kinda great review for Errands. Feels wild to see someone talk about my work like this and I feel shy now!

And I'm having great fun learning that my websites are down at the moment, since the server is timing out. So I've written this Saturday evening but not sure when I'll be able to post it.

Guess it's all back up now at least - webhost had some pretty gnarly hardware failure apparently, while they were presumably all asleep due to timezones. So I can post it
