I'm a bit grumpy so it's time to blame externalities
The following prevalent things in the world are scams
- Any product being advertised by a youtuber
- Clickbait titles for youtube videos
- Tiktok creators who make videos with a "part 2"
- Streaming services
- The release cycle and lifespan of mobile phones
- Nonreplaceable batteries
- Lock-in contracts
- A fairly large chunk of mobile phone plans
- Most political parties
- Corporate-produced media that gives you notionally good but kinda nonspecific and generic feeling vibes
- Pretty much anything that's a recurring subscription
- DRM
- Region locks
- Platform exclusivity
- Sequels
- Remakes
- Re-imaginings, whatever the fuck that means
- Free-to-play games, no I don't care if you're telling me the microtransactions are "cosmetic" they're still scams
- Especially if they have randomised loot box systems
- But battle passes are also scams, don't get me wrong
- The fine art world
- Capitalism
- Organised religions
- The floor plans of shopping centres
- The way they lay out escalators in large department stores so you have to walk around in a circle and look what's on the floor before going to the next one
- Designer brands
- Intellectual property laws
- Look I could write this list all night TBH
