A zine received, and thoughts!
Today in the post, I was privileged and lucky enough to receive from my dear friend, the author A.L. Reynolds, the inaugural issue of their zine entitled "Who Can Say".
The contents is, in a word, delightful. When you're close to someone it's always a particular joy and privilege to get to see their self-expression, and knowing the author as I do I get such a lovely and intense feeling of them-ness from the work!
There's something particularly special feeling about receiving a physical copy of something like this. For me it kinda exemplifies the magical feeling of physical copies, like it is one thing to have access to a work through modern technology, but to be able to hold it in your hands and say "Yes, this is it, this is THE book/film/album/game/etc", well, it has a sort of a romance about it. Like it feels more real if you can hold it, right? And especially in this case, where it's a work from someone I'm close to, to be able to hold it and know that they took the time to make sure I had a physical version, including personally inscribing it to me, well, it just makes a girl feel special y'know?
I eagerly anticipate future instalments of this work, and in the meantime I am definitely going to have to try that lavender syrup recipe!
