a thought that I have nowhere better to write than here

how the heck is that (terrible, crass, exploitative, bullshit) winnie-the-pooh horror movie getting an australian release? Considering it relies on the expiry of US copyright in the book, but that is just US copyright law. Australia's life+70 rule means that Winnie-the-Pooh won't enter public domain until 2026 here and the EH Shephard illustrations not until 2046, according to the national library of australia. And yet it's getting a local bluray. Did everyone just read all the "oh it's going public domain" news stories and forget that america's laws are not the world? should I campaign to stop it on the basis of cultural imperialism, or would that be bad because it'd be helping gisnep enforce intellectual property laws?
