A morning of Star Trek
Watching a new Star Trek on Saturday morning has become something of a routine for me, and it's likely that, with Paramount's release schedule, this will continue for the foreseeable future. This morning I watched the season finale of Star Trek Picard along with the first episode of Strange New Worlds, followed by the next Voyager and DS9 episodes in my grand watch-through plan.
Star Trek is, for whatever reason, a series I'm really in to. Like, it's no great shock to hear someone say that DS9 is their favourite TV show I think, but there's also the bad bits of Trek. and I'm watching or intend to watch those too. My grand watch-through plan is actually based on original airing order, with a little help from Memory Alpha, so that means I'm working though Voyager as well, filling in the gaps that I never saw back in the day, and I'm also planning on tackling Enterprise, which I've actually only seen bits and pieces of. While doing this I'm also intending to keep up with the currently airing Treks.
It is kinda interesting that Paramount seem to have lined things up with enough consecutive shows that they can basically have a new Star Trek every week all year round. Honestly, this is likely because it means people like me are practically guaranteed to subscribe to their streaming service. I mean, I can afford it, since it's a cheaper one as streaming services go, and cancelling Netflix and Stan has freed up some budget in that area. Admittedly right now it's still a bit split with Lower Decks and Picard still on Prime Video, but I'm guessing that'll swap over at some point like how things did with Netflix.
It's also kinda interesting to me how like I think I used to be this flavour of fan for Star Wars, but I guess Disney fucked that? I am still mad about that!
Anyway, Strange New Worlds seems interesting so far. Let's see where it goes.
